Khyentse James (pronounced Kensie) has been planning special events for over 11 years. Most significantly, she founded the internationally acclaimed Chicago-based music festival Estrojam which highlights women reaching new heights of artistic achievement. James has lived in Africa, Burma, Brazil, Tibet, and Northern Ireland and brings an array of cultural understanding and international flavor to her work. Khyentse was selected twice as a top social activist in Chicago under 30 and invited to speak at The Chicago Historical Society. Throughout her career she has collaborated with Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), Joan Jett, Concrete Blonde and has been featured on/in MTV, NPR, The Chicago Tribune, The LA Times and Rolling Stone Magazine. Khyentse recently finished her Masters Degree in Business and Engaged Buddhism at Naropa University and The University of Colorado where her final special event project won second place at the University's of Colorado's Entrepreneurship competition.
